Why We Love All-Inclusives

There’s something about an all-inclusive that just works—especially when you’re craving a true break. Not the kind where you’re still making decisions all day, checking prices, or figuring out where to go next. The kind where everything is already taken care of, and you can just… settle in.
We’ve done enough trips now to know that not all all-inclusives are the same. But when you find the right one, it’s not just easy—it’s actually one of the most enjoyable, low-stress ways to travel. And it’s why we keep coming back.
Everything is Just … EASY
The biggest shift you feel at an all-inclusive happens almost immediately. You arrive, you’re welcomed in, and suddenly all the little decisions that usually fill a travel day just disappear. No coordinating meals, no pulling up maps, no debating where to go next. It’s all right there.
That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do—it just means you get to choose what your day looks like without pressure. Pool, beach, coffee, lunch, repeat… or something more active if you’re in the mood. The point is, the structure is there, but the pace is yours.
It really starts with the arrival—Ride to the Resort—and how quickly everything shifts into vacation mode.
The Food is the Best Part of the Experience
One of the biggest misconceptions is that all-inclusive food is just “fine.” And while that can be true in some places, the right resorts make food a real part of the experience.
You’ll find everything from casual beachside lunches to surprisingly elevated dinners, and the best part is you don’t have to overthink any of it. Try something new, go back to your favorite spot, grab something quick, or sit down for a full meal—it’s all already built into your stay.
And honestly, some of our favorite moments are the simplest ones—long lunches, slow dinners, and those in-between snacks you didn’t plan for but end up remembering.
We’ve seen this done really well at Nickelodeon Riviera Maya, where the food actually becomes part of the experience.
The Setting Does A Lot of the Work
There’s a reason so many all-inclusives are in places like Riviera Maya. The setting alone carries a lot of the experience—turquoise water, warm air, and just enough breeze to make you want to stay outside all day.
You don’t need a packed itinerary when your surroundings already feel like the highlight. Some days are just beach chairs, a good view, and nowhere to be—and that ends up being exactly what you needed.
It’s also what makes moments like Sea Turtle Nesting feel so special—you’re not just visiting, you’re part of the environment.
Built-In Moments You Didn't Plan For
One thing we didn’t fully appreciate at first is how many little moments just happen naturally at an all-inclusive. Live music in the evening, something unexpected happening around the resort, or just the energy shifting as the day winds down.
You don’t have to plan for it, and you don’t have to commit to anything—it’s just there if you want it. And those moments tend to be the ones that stick.
Sometimes it’s as simple as stumbling into something like Karaoke Night and realizing it ends up being one of your favorite memories.
It Can Be as Simple or As Extra as You Want
This is where all-inclusives really shine. You can keep it completely low-key—pool, beach, repeat—or you can layer in more: excursions, upgraded experiences, even things like butler service that take it to another level.
It’s not one-size-fits-all. It’s flexible in a way that lets you shape the trip around what you actually want, not what you feel like you should be doing.
If you want to elevate the experience, Butler Service is one of those upgrades that can completely change the pace of your trip.
And even something as simple as where you spend your day—like choosing between Bali Beds—can shape the entire experience.

Some days don’t need a plan. Just a chair, a view, and nowhere to be.

Lunch with a view—where the setting becomes part of the experience.

Dinner is never just dinner—it’s part of the rhythm of the trip.
Why We Keep Coming Back
At the end of the day, it comes down to how it feels. All-inclusives take away just enough of the logistics to let you actually enjoy where you are. You’re not constantly planning the next thing—you’re just in it.
And for us, that’s the difference between a trip that feels busy and one that actually feels like a break.
It’s not the only way to travel—but it’s one we come back to again and again.
